Pilgrimage to the Holy Door in Nottingham from Long Eaton

Booking opens for pilgrims from Long Eaton

St Francis parish in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, is one of the parishes that has accepted an invitation to include tours of the cathedral and the Little Company of Mary heritage centre in their Year of Mercy pilgrimage to our cathedral’s Holy Door. Pilgrims will set off to walk from Long Eaton to Nottingham in the morning of Thursday 26th May, and are expecting to follow paths beside two canals and the River Trent. Pilgrims who don’t want to walk (it’ll take for four hours or more) can travel by public transport, car, or bike, and meet the walkers in Nottingham. Since the numbers on the tours are limited, anybody thinking of joining the pilgrimage is asked to visit the pilgrimage web page to see more information and┬áregister their name if they decide to take part.

  1. Cathedral staff recently informed the pilgrims that the tour on their originally confirmed date of 12th May has sadly had to be cancelled.

Parishioners who’d booked a place discussed keeping the original date and missing out on the tour, or accepting a new date the Cathedral had offered.

The overwhelming consensus was to accept the new date, and so now Long Eaton’s Year of Mercy Pilgrimage will be on Thursday 26th May.
